Reluctantly left Ojo Caliente at about 11.00 am. We were told by the lady in the spa shop that we should stop off at Santuario de Chimayo , which had a beautiful church which was built in the time of the Conquistadors. We carefully followed her map, but never found the turnoff to the Santuario and thus ended up in Sante Fe far earlier than we wanted, as it was only 50 miles from Ojo Caliente!!
We did, however, find a shopping mall and as we needed a few things, stopped off there. We were both in need of a pedicure and luckily found a nail bar which could accommodate us at this time. Y had a mani and pedi and I just had a pedi and leg massage. It was wonderful and after wandering around the mall we found a place for lunch - we also found a Starbucks.
Satty then found the hotel for us. It is the Inn of the Governors and is in a wonderful location - right in the centre of town with lots of craft shops around. When we arrived, Y decided she would go for a swim and I took myself for a short walk around the area.
This evening we decided we would eat at a Restaurant which was part of the St Francis Hotel. We both had a cocktail. I had a Manhattan which is whiskey based and Y had a vodka based one. (completely forgotten the name). Both were very good.
We have booked ourselves on a trolley car tour around Sante Fe for tomorrow morning
