We were woken this morning by an early morning call informing us that we had to be in the lobby by 09.20 for our Gracelands tour. Not a happy awakening.
We managed to get some breakfast and then on to the bus and out to Gracelands. Evidently, Elvis did not name the house, it was named by the original owner who sold it to him on condition that the name wasn't changed.
After passing security and being given audio equipment, we were driven to the house and did the tour. See photos below.
After seeing the house we went to see the aeroplane. Pretty fantastic, and it definitely was better than travelling economy. Taps and seat belts were gold plated. It's named for Lisa Marie, his daughter. We were being picked up at 1.00 pm, so just had time for a quick tour around the car museum. Of course my pink cadillac was just waiting for me, but they could not find the keys, so will have to go back and collect.
We had a soda and milk shake in a 50's style diner, which brought back many memories of my misbegotten youth
After being dropped off near the hotel we went had a bite to eat and then came back and collapsed. The temperature today was in the low 90sF. Quite warm, one could say. Rested for a bit and then decided to go down to the Mississippi, which is about 3 blocks from the hotel - though it was quite a walk in the sun. Y decided to go for a swim, which she quite enjoyed. Coming back I saw the Memphis baseball arena. Quite nice to look at.
Off to Little Rock tomorrow morn.
