Left Eureka Springs after a nice breakfast and managed to find our way to Route 62 W which took us towards Oklahoma. We drove through some lovely countryside in the Ozarks and then ended up on I-44W.
While driving, we noticed that North Oklahoma is Cherokee country and that there are various other Native American tribes in the State.
We stopped for lunch at one of the little towns along the way and had a Subway sandwich and something to drink and then it was back on the road towards Oklahoma City or OKC. We arrived at the Hampton Inn at about 4.00 pm and were told about a canal ride which we could take. So that's what we did and it went all through Bricktown, which is a new area in downtown OKC. It is full of bars and restaurants along the waterfront and they also have a Mickey Mantel Steak House. (For those who are not up on baseball, he was a hero of OKC). It is also where the great land rush started in the 1800s.
Our room at the Inn is overlooking the baseball stadium, but luckily for us, there is no game on tonight.
Y was feeling all energetic when we came back from the Canal ride and decided to go swimming. I just stayed in the room and had a shower - you don't see me getting my face wet! We are going to try and do a trolley ride this evening. I believe it only lasts about half an hour, but hopefully we will at least see something of the city. Missed the last trolley, so didn't do the tour.
Went to dinner instead. Ate at a tapas restaurant overlooking the canal, called Bolero. We had paella, among other things and it was all really tasty.
Travelling towards Sante Fe from tomorrow, but have no plans of where we will stop on the way. Will trust to luck but hope to be there by the weekend.
