Monterey to Sacramento

We left Monterey quite early as we had an early breakfast, and decided to drive up the coast towards San Francisco and then turn inland to arrive in Sacramento.  The drive up was through beautiful country with forests on either side of the road.  Quite refreshing after driving through deserts and seeing only yellow/brown fields and hills.

We stopped in San Jose for lunch at The Crows Nest which was overlooking the marina.  Had a very good soup and salad and then had a little walk along the front.  Didn't do that for too long, as the wind was getting really cold, not that it stopped people from being on the beach and going in the sea.

Then it was on the road again, by-passing San Francisco, and turning inland towards Sacramento.  We are staying at a very comfortable hotel called The Citizen, which is in the business district of the town, so it was pretty quiet when we went out to eat, finding a really nice restaurant called The Broiler.

As I am leaving for Seattle tomorrow morning, to visit with friends who live there, the next blog will only be available from 12 July.  I am leaving the computer with Y & A so that they are able to book what they need while they are on the road.

So wait with patience and watch this space.
