Las Vegas to Bakersfield

Left LV after breakfast and took a cab to the airport to pick up the car.  We have a Nissan now, automatic, aircon and all the modcons.

Did not put my licence on the agreement as I will not be with the Hymans from Friday until the following Thursday, so it wouldn't have been worthwhile.

We took I-15 S towards Bristow and then 98 N to Bakersfield.  Not much to ee on that road, but as we drove towards Bakersfield, we could see citrus groves and grapes and the whole area was much greener than in Nevada.

We stopped off at Sue's Diner (a 50s experience) and had lunch and something to drink.  It was a great place and really took one back to the 50s and 60s - if you were around then and can still remember!!!

Then it was back on the road to Bakersfield where we ended up at The Padre Hotel.  This is a renovated hotel which was originally built in the 20s.  It is very comfortable and very modern now.

We had a pre-prandial drink and then had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent.

Off to bed and on to Monterey tomorrow morning.
